What makes us tick?
When we started up Capstone in 2005, in a small upstairs room, we wanted to create something that we were proud of. Something that we'd feel good wearing and looked good too.
So, we decided to always try and get our clothes fairly traded, and organically grown materials.
And so far, so good! Most of the stuff we sell comes from Fairtrade factories, and the materials that we haven't yet sourced as certified Fairtrade come from a Cooperative factory.
This means that the factory workers also own the factory itself, and so they get to dictate how its run.
Sounds good to us.
But it doesn't end there. All our prints are done using a water-based ink, which is a thumbs-up for the environment, as no chemicals are used.
Now, during these up & down times for the economy, it seems wise spending is on everybody's mind - and ours too.
We want to make sure that people can benefit from your spending, beyond you buying (and enjoying) your Capstone clothes!
So from each purchase, we stick 15% of it into a special Jam Jar, and save all this up. We then use it to help out various charities and projects across the world where we think it'll be used well.
The other 85%, we plough straight back into Capstone, creating clothes that look great, feel really nice to wear, and just carry on helping people.
That's what makes us tick.
